The door clicked shut behind you, or the keys are on the counter, or they are simply gone. We get you back inside and, if the keys are lost for good, make sure the old ones stop working. Text us your ZIP and a photo of the front lock to start.
Most house lockouts are boring, and that is good news. A self-locking knob was set when you stepped out for the mail. A roommate or a kid threw the deadbolt from inside. The keys went into the wrong bag at the gym. Less often a lock has failed: the key turns but nothing moves, or a keypad has a dead battery and the backup key is somewhere inside.
Tell us which one it is when you text. It changes what the tech brings and how long it takes, and it lets us give you a firmer arrival time. If you are waiting outside at night, stay somewhere lit and visible, a neighbor's porch or your car, and we will call you when the tech is a few minutes out. There is no need to stand at the door the whole time.
In a building, your unit door may not be the only locked thing between you and the couch. Lobby doors, pool gates and parking garages often run on fobs or keys only management can issue. We can open the door to your unit, but we cannot make a building key or override a building system. If you can reach your manager or a neighbor to buzz the tech in, the visit goes much faster.
Renters: your lease may say who is allowed to change or rekey locks. Opening the door is fine, but if you want new keys afterward, check with your landlord first or let us talk to them.
Being let in fixes tonight. It does not fix the fact that a set of keys with your house on it is out in the world, maybe with your address on a tag or a car registration in the same bag. A rekey changes the inside of the lock so the old keys no longer turn it, and you keep the hardware you already have. Our truck carries the pins and parts for the common brands, so it is usually done before the tech leaves.
If the lock is worn out or you wanted a better deadbolt anyway, a lock change on the same visit saves you a second appointment.
Most of the time, no. Damage-free entry is the first thing we try and most residential locks allow it. If yours is a high-security cylinder or already broken, the tech explains that and prices the drilling and replacement before touching it. You decide.
Yes. Many smart locks have a backup key or an emergency power point, and we can work with either. We will also look at why it died, usually batteries or a misaligned bolt that drains them, so it does not happen again next week.
Usually, yes, as long as something else ties you to the unit: a lease, a utility bill, mail, or the building manager confirming who you are. Have it on your phone if you can. We would rather spend two minutes checking than open the wrong door.
If they are close, probably. We are happy to tell you that. Text us the situation and we will give you our price and arrival time, then you can compare it with how long they will be. No pressure either way.
