San Fernando is its own small city, with its own city hall and police, surrounded by Los Angeles on every side. Its shops and older homes keep us busy, and we come out any hour of the day.
The heart of town is San Fernando Road and the pedestrian mall stretch along it, packed with family owned shops, bridal stores, restaurants and services in older storefront buildings. Brand Boulevard and Maclay Avenue cross through, and the side streets hold bungalows and small houses from the early and middle 1900s, many with front porches and original wood doors. The city is small enough that we can get from one side to the other in a few minutes. Parking near the mall is tight during business hours, so a heads up about loading zones or alley access helps.
Downtown shops often have glass doors in aluminum frames with a narrow cylinder lock, and a steel rear door with a deadbolt. When an employee leaves or a key goes missing, changing the cylinder is fast and keeps the rest of the door hardware. Restaurants and larger shops may need panic bars on exit doors, and those need to latch and release cleanly. In the older homes, wood doors may have a lock that has been painted over or a mortise lock that has lost its key; many can be rekeyed or repaired rather than replaced. We tell you which before work starts.
San Fernando is about six miles from Van Nuys, so most calls see a tech in 25–45 minutes. Text (657) 478-8248 with your ZIP, a photo of the lock, and for a shop, whether it is the front or back door and your hours. You get a price and time first.
Yes. Text a photo of the front door cylinder and the back door lock tonight, and we can come early in the morning or after you close. We bring the matching cylinder, swap it, and hand you the new keys before your doors open.
Usually yes. A panic bar that sticks is often out of adjustment, worn at the latch or rubbing on the frame. We adjust or repair it, or replace it if it is done, and check that the door closes, latches and releases properly before we leave.
Often, yes. Older locks can usually be cleaned, repaired and rekeyed, and we can add a modern deadbolt next to the original if you want more security without losing the look. If parts are not available, we explain your options and price them first.
