Sun Valley does the heavy work for the rest of the city: recycling yards, building material suppliers, truck lots and machine shops. Their gates and doors take a beating, and we keep them locking.
Drive up San Fernando Road or Glenoaks Boulevard and you pass yard after yard behind chain-link and corrugated fences: scrap and recycling, stone and gravel, auto dismantlers, contractors, sheet metal shops. Many have a small office trailer or a block building near the gate. Hollywood Burbank Airport sits just to the south, and the 5 and the 210 both run along the edge. Residential Sun Valley is out of the way: small houses on wide lots, some zoned for horses near La Tuna Canyon, with long driveways, workshops out back and dogs that take the gate seriously.
In the yards, gate hardware is the first thing to fail. A rolling gate takes a padlock on a chain or a heavy latch, and dust, rain and the occasional truck bumper make short work of cheap ones. We fit locks built for outdoor abuse and can key a whole site so a manager carries one key while crews carry fewer. Office trailers and block buildings usually have a basic lever or knob lock that we upgrade to a commercial grade. At home it is the same story on a smaller scale: workshop doors, gates and the house itself on a mix of keys.
Sun Valley is about 5 miles from Van Nuys in a straight line, so expect 20–35 minutes. Text (657) 478-8248 the yard or home address, a photo of the lock or gate, and who will meet us. If it is a business, say what time you open so the work does not hold up the morning.
Usually a heavier padlock with a shielded shackle, or a lock box welded to the gate, so the body is not taking the hits. We look at how the gate closes and where trucks swing, then recommend a setup and price it before installing.
Yes. A master key system gives the owner one key for everything, and each group gets a key that opens only the doors they need. When someone leaves, you replace one key or rekey one area instead of the whole site. We map it out with you on the first visit.
