A lot of Porter Ranch was built in the last thirty years, and newer homes come with a quiet problem: the builder's keys. We help you take real ownership of your locks, and we handle the push-button cars in the driveway too.
Porter Ranch sits high on the north edge of the Valley, under the Santa Susana foothills, with Rinaldi Street and Tampa Avenue as the main ways in. Most streets are curving, planned tracts of two story homes, many inside gated communities with an HOA, a guard booth or a call box. Some newer developments are packed in tight, with townhomes and small-lot houses sharing walls and driveways. The Town Center near the 118 handles groceries and errands. Homes here usually have a front door, an entry from a two or three car garage, a side gate and at least one set of patio doors, so a single visit tends to cover several locks.
Newer homes often still run on the locks the builder installed. Those sets are fine mechanically, but during construction many crews and trades held keys, and some builders key whole phases alike. Rekeying after you move in closes that door for good. Keypad and smart deadbolts are common here, and so are codes nobody remembers changing. In garages, the house entry door often takes a different key than the front, which we can fix. On the driveway, most cars have push-button start, so a lost key usually means a new fob programmed to the car on site rather than a simple cut.
Porter Ranch is roughly 8.6 miles in a straight line from Van Nuys, which works out to 25–45 minutes depending on the 405 and the 118. Text (657) 478-8248 your address, a photo of the lock or the car's dash, and the gate instructions for your community so the tech is not stuck at the call box.
Yes. Workers, inspectors and subcontractors often had access while the house was going up, and some tracts share keying across homes. Rekeying changes the pins in your existing locks, so only your new keys work. It is usually done in one short visit.
First try a fresh battery in the fob. If that does not help, or the fob is gone, we program a new one to the car in your driveway for most makes. Text the year, make and model and a photo of the dash message, and we will confirm before driving up.
Usually, yes. If both locks are compatible we rekey them to one key, which also lets you add the side door or a second entry at the same visit. If one lock is a different brand that cannot share a key, we say so and price a matching replacement.
