A lot of Eagle Rock houses have changed owners in the last few years, and most new owners have no idea how many old keys are still out there. That is the call we like best here: it is quick, it keeps your hardware, and it lets you sleep better.
Eagle Rock sits in a bowl of hills between Glendale and Highland Park, with the 134 along the north and the 2 cutting down the west side. Colorado Boulevard and Eagle Rock Boulevard carry the shops, cafes and small offices. Off them, most streets are lined with 1910s to 1940s Craftsman bungalows, Spanish revival houses and small duplexes, and the streets climb steeply toward the ridges. Occidental College brings student rentals and faculty houses on the streets around campus. Many hillside homes have stairs up from the curb and a detached garage on an alley, so tell us which way in is easiest.
Old Eagle Rock doors are often thick wood with original hardware that has been patched more than once: a decorative knob that does not lock, with a newer deadbolt drilled above it. Some still have mortise locks inside the door edge. Duplexes tend to have cheap knob sets that were swapped between tenants. Detached garages and side gates usually run on padlocks or old rim locks. For you, the useful part is that most of this can be rekeyed or repaired rather than replaced, and if a door needs a deadbolt, we fit it so the door still looks like it belongs to the house.
Eagle Rock is about 14 miles from the middle of the Valley in a straight line, so expect 35–60 minutes, depending on the 134. Text (657) 478-8248 your ZIP (90041), a photo of the lock, and whether we should come up the front stairs or around by the alley garage.
If the locks turn smoothly, rekey them: we change the pins inside so every old key stops working, and you keep the hardware that suits the house. If a lock is loose, sticky or only a decorative knob, we replace that one. You get the price for each door before we start.
Usually yes. Old wood doors settle and shift with the seasons, so the bolt stops lining up. We adjust or move the strike plate, and if the door has sagged, we tell you that too. Most of the time the lock itself is fine and only needs the hole to meet it.
In many cases, yes. If the garage and gate use standard cylinders, we rekey them to your house key. If they use old rim locks or worn padlocks, we can swap them for ones that take the same key. Send a photo of each and we will tell you which is which.
