A lot of Calabasas lives behind a guard gate, and the doors inside tend to have good hardware. We come prepared for both: cleared at the gate, and with parts that match what you already have.
Calabasas runs along the 101 where the Valley ends and the Santa Monica Mountains begin. Much of the city is gated or semi-gated: Calabasas Park, Mulwood, the Oaks and several others, each with a guard booth or a call box at the entrance. Old Town on Calabasas Road has a handful of shops and restaurants, and The Commons draws a crowd most evenings. Las Virgenes Road and Mulholland lead up into hillier neighborhoods with larger homes on bigger lots. Office buildings sit near the freeway. Most of our work here is residential, and the first question is always how we get through the gate.
Homes in Calabasas often have heavier decorative handlesets, multipoint locks on tall entry doors, and plenty of smart locks with keypads. Smart locks fail in a few common ways: dead batteries, a lost app account after the house changes hands, or a motor that stops throwing the bolt. We sort out the setup, reset codes and replace the unit if it has quit. Owners who want stronger key control choose high-security cylinders with keys that cannot be copied without a card. When a whole house needs one key, we rekey what we can and match the finish on anything we replace.
Calabasas is about 11 miles from Van Nuys, so plan on 25–45 minutes. Text (657) 478-8248 with your ZIP, a photo of the lock, and your community name. Please add us to the gate list or text the gate code when you book. The gate, not the freeway, is usually what slows us down.
Call the gate and leave our name (I Lost Key Locksmith), or text us the visitor code when you book. If the guard needs to call you to confirm, keep your phone close. It is a small step, but it can save twenty minutes.
It may have lost its connection, the motor may be failing, or the bolt may be dragging on the strike. We check the door alignment first, then the lock itself. If it needs replacing, we price a new one and set it up with you on site.
For most makes, yes, cut and programmed where you are parked. A few newer models only accept keys through the dealer. Text the year, make, model and VIN, and we tell you up front whether we can do it before anyone drives out.
