Most of our West Hills calls start the same way: someone just bought the house, or someone just lost a key. Both have a simple answer, and we can usually finish it in one visit.
West Hills is about as residential as the Valley gets. It sits against the hills at the west end, between Valley Circle Boulevard and Fallbrook Avenue, with Sherman Way, Roscoe and Saticoy running across. Most streets are lined with single-story and some two-story tract homes from the 1960s and 1970s, with side gates leading to back yards, and a lot of those yards have pools. There is a hospital and medical offices along Sherman Way, the Fallbrook Center shopping area, and a few small strip malls. Houses change hands often as families move in, so a lot of our work here is making a new house properly yours.
Typical West Hills hardware: a knob and a single deadbolt on the front, the same on the door from the garage, and an aluminum sliding door at the back. The knobs and bolts are usually common brands that rekey easily, which keeps the job quick. Sliders are the weak spot: the latch wears, the door drops on its track, and it stops catching. We can fix or replace that latch and add a secondary lock. Pool gates matter too. If the self-closing latch has stopped catching, we repair or replace it so the gate shuts and locks on its own every time.
We are about 11 miles away in Van Nuys, so expect 25–45 minutes. Text (657) 478-8248 with your ZIP and a photo of the door or the key you still have. If it is the slider or a side gate, send a picture of that too. You hear the price and the arrival time before anyone drives.
Usually not. Rekeying changes the pins inside your current locks so old keys stop working, and you keep the hardware. We do every outside door, including the garage entry, and key them all alike. If a lock is worn out, we tell you and price a replacement.
Often, yes. The latch may be worn or the door may have settled so the hook misses the keeper. We adjust or replace the latch and can add a second lock at the top or bottom of the frame for extra hold.
Yes. Self-closing gate latches wear and get knocked out of line. We bring replacement latches and gate locks, set them so the gate closes and catches on its own, and key the lock to match your house if you want.
