Westwood has two very different kinds of door: a student apartment near campus that has seen a dozen tenants, and a high-rise condo on Wilshire with a doorman downstairs. We work on both, and we tell you the price before we start.
Westwood wraps around the south side of UCLA. North of Wilshire, the streets near campus are packed with older apartment buildings and student housing, plus fraternity and sorority houses along Gayley and Hilgard. Westwood Village has shops, restaurants and offices on Westwood Boulevard and Broxton. Along the Wilshire corridor stand high-rise condo towers with front desks, valet and garage entry by fob. South of Wilshire there are quieter streets of single family homes and small apartment buildings. Parking in the Village is metered and tight, so give us the building name and where the loading zone is.
Student buildings tend to have basic knob and lever locks that have been rekeyed many times, plus mailbox locks that break often. The Wilshire towers use solid unit door locks, sometimes high-security cylinders the building controls, and fobs for the lobby and garage that the management office issues. Single family homes south of Wilshire often have older deadbolts and sliding doors to the yard. For a renter, the key point is that we can rekey your unit door when the lease allows. For a condo owner, we can work on your unit hardware while the building keeps its own system.
Westwood is about 9 miles from the middle of the Valley in a straight line, so expect 25–45 minutes. Traffic over the 405 or the canyons can stretch it, and the honest ETA comes with the price. Text (657) 478-8248 the building name, unit number, a photo of the lock and any front desk instructions.
Usually yes, once you tell them we are coming. Let the front desk know the time and your unit, and text us any check-in rules, such as an ID or a service elevator. If you are locked out in the lobby, meet us there and we go up together.
Yes, at any hour. Text your building and unit and have your ID handy, since we confirm you live there before opening the door. If your keys are gone for good, ask your landlord about rekeying, or we can do it with their okay so the lost set no longer works.
Most of the time, yes. Slider latches wear out, and the door can also drop on its rollers so the latch misses its catch. We check both, replace the latch if needed, and can add a secondary lock so the door cannot be lifted out. You get the price before work starts.
